The Red Hatter

Often been told to be a young girl, but in actuality The Red Hatter is a life-size marionette with a consciousness of her own. Her age equals to infinite lifetimes. Her name is something that no one has known or has even dared to utter, so she goes by the title given to her by her most attractive accessory. She is described to be the most perfectly sculpted doll in existence(and also creepy), but has no known maker. Being made out of porcelain, it is difficult to catch the few minuscule expressions she can make.

The Red Hatter is the origin the Asian legend of "the red string of fate"--an invisible red string tied to your little finger that connects you to your fated loved one. This is the tale created by a Japanese traveler who became acquainted with the Red Hatter and misunderstood the concept of the strings. She found his presence to be charming, and so gifted him the ability to see his own strings. The traveler chose to follow a thread on his small finger and eventually found himself at its other end, which was tied to the little finger of a woman who became the love of his life.

The true nature of the strings is to connect an individual's existence with others. Countless strings are tied to the individual's fingers and connect to every person they have met, are bound to meet, and will meet again. Once a string has been cut, the individual will never again have any contact with the person on the other end. The Red Hatter's job is to manage these strings.

The Red Hatter herself is a playful yet self-serving spirit who occasionally enjoys interfering with mortal life She can control the red strings of fate, and thus can even change who you are fated to meet if she wishes. The Red Hatter isn't quick to anger, but her name is a sensitive topic. Careful, provoke her temper and she can tie one of your strings to someone who means you great harm. Or worse...she will cut all of your strings---cutting your existence to everyone else.
